Ukraine imports a major portion of its gas needs through Hungary, amounting to around 45% of all gas imports last year, according to Ukrainian energy consultancy EXPRO.

Itd be reallll fuckin funny if the countries that supply hungary with gas cut them off until they stop being cunts

And while we’re at it, cut the money as well. I’ve had it with them.

2 monthsso, what are the odds of getting rid of this pustule in April’s elections?

Like the global economic recession looming thanks to trump’s war in Iran strangling energy sources all over the region and causing disruptions in everything from clothing to fertilizer manufacturing that will cause major and potentially disastrous ripple effects downstream the longer this goes on?
That kind of unexpected?

Our biggest flaw is exactly this. There is no way the other members can push out a state that has been compromised by US- or Russian intelligence. This will likely be our downfall, if we dont do anything about it.

A lot has been done despite Orban and the key is that Hungary is still democratic enough to allow him to be voted out(hopefully). There also is the option to take away a members vote, but it requires everybody else to agree. For a long time Hungary was protected by Poland and now Slovakia.

Now put it in the context of a country and you’ve got the current US.

Crazy that EU can’t kick out a country, who was the fucking idiot that though that was a good idea

How do you know that we are not compromised to the point that we can’t identify corruption anymore? After the Iran war we don’t treat the US like we treat Russia. What if expelling Hungary would lead to a EU that is fully controlled by the US?
- encelado748@feddit.orgEnglish2 months
Because Europe is economically and militarily codependent on the US and they just need to wait for Trump to be removed next election. We are not codependent with Russia (not to the same extent) so we can threat them more harshly. But as we are cutting economic ties with Russia, we are also cutting investment to the US.

I doubt there will be a next election. That guy already tried a coup when he lost an election. Even if he himself is as dumb as a sack of bricks, his associates have learned from that coup’s failure.

Isn’t that fucking depressing? They are doing the same kind of bullshit, yet far too many see the us as a “good guy”. They certainly should be treated the same as russia
- stoicEuropean@lemmy.mlEnglish2 months
Agreed. Call me optimistic, but i think the public opinion is shifting towards an anti-US stance. Slowly, way too slowly If you ask me. But the tendencies are right.

Let’s say we kick Hungary out of the EU. What then? Would Russia annex them?
