I’m sorry, but Intel’s x86 garbage just cannot compete with Apple’s ARM chips. For me the main appeal of MacBooks Air and Neo is great battery life and no active cooling. There’s only a handful of x86-based laptops matching MacBooks’ battery life, and maybe one of them is fanless.
Can we just abandon this dogshit architecture already? It’s going nowhere. Just make laptops with Snapdragons, even older ones, and preinstall Linux on them. It’s cheap and works great.

Can I get a tl;dr for someone who isn’t into 3d printing (yet)? I like to know about companies to avoid and why, but it’ll still be a while before I get into 3d printing.

Oh, that will definitely happen in the near future. At least one Chinese company is already making solid GPUs, but with terrible drivers. Once they work on the software side, they should be viable for everyday use. Probably no competition for a 5080 or 5090, but lower models at half the price.

I could see this making sense if the American education system wasn’t already broken beyond repair. Otherwise it doesn’t improve education. Simply gives more control to corrupt schools.
In my country a similar cellphone ban in schools has been implemented. Except in our schools kids actually learn quite a lot. It’s far from perfect, but far from terrible too. It may or may not have a noticeable impact on students’ performance. That remains to be seen, since it was implemented fairly recently. Perhaps scores from this year will indicate either an increase or a decrease.
Though of course, politicians are unlikely to care and even if it ultimately leads to a decline, they won’t cancel it.

Officially, sure. But we know for a fact massive shipments of Nvidia’s workstation graphics cards have been coming to China for a while. So good job making it slightly more expensive for Chinese companies, I guess?

I preffered not knowing this

This time not through Warsaw… right?

Crazy how long it takes for supposedly extremely brilliant scientists and engineers working at Evil LLC to realize that maybe their work is a net loss for humanity.
It’s almost as if… they just didn’t care and pretended to realize their mistakes once everything was well exposed. It’s like reading obviously satirical scientists’ memos in Resident Evil. Except it’s real life and they’re not satire.

Sure, it’s not vital to our survival or freedom, but ownership over digital media is a pretty damn big deal in the current age.

Same thousands of CEOs will continue implementing as much AI as possible, because it literally doesn’t matter to them whether or not it impacts employment or productivity.

Rich pedophiles really will close entire stores, losing 100% of profits from them, rather than let them unionize, losing potentially 5% of profits short-term.

When I hear ‘mainstream phone’, in my mind I picture an iPhone or a Samsung. So yeah, Linux phones are definitely not achieving that this decade. Though personally I don’t think they necessarily need to, at all.
Point 4 is probably not happening any time soon, if ever, either. Rest is slowly being done and progressing, so I’m not seeing any major problems there.
I don’t think anyone realistically expects a Linux phone to compete with an iPhone in terms of ease of use, quality of life features or UI/UX. As far as I’ve seen, people just want a decent phone with basic functionalities like long battery life, good camera, easy to use and smooth UI, maps and navigation. All while being more private and secure, of course.

Linux phones have already been around for many years. Right now we’re very close to Linux phones that are usable on a daily basis. Not as close to decent Linux phones, of course, but with the right (not at all unrealistic) resources it could be completely within reach in a year or two.
Also, Flatpaks exist and work pretty much just like Android apps.

Because it helps trans kids greatly to know that what they’re feeling is okay, that they aren’t alone in this and that there are solutions available.
Of course, a topic like this needs to be introduced very carefully. Though this entire discussion is pointless at the moment, because American education system is worthless and serves no real purpose, so it’d never get done right anyway.

Or by mirroring his content to other video sharing platforms like LBRY/Odysee or Peertube. It requires little effort, seems to be risk free, and lays the foundation to migrate from YouTube at some point in the future.
I’m a little puzzled why a lot of creators don’t do this, especially ones who criticize YouTube so much and promote self hosting.

Instructions unclear. Wrote my contact address as Pyongyang and now I’m getting emails in Korean.
