Drump doesn’t give a shit about US citizens. We should be given priority when it comes to buying farmland.

science@lemmy.world•Diseases can spread between apartments via shared ventilation, study showsEnglish
7 daysA false analogy. Every room in a house is not every apartment in a building.
Absolute tech jank, indicative of people who don’t know what they’re doing.

Technology@lemmy.world•Lithium deposit valued at over $1.5 trillion discovered in the U.S.English
9 daysThe mountain gold itself has no value until extraction begins and the gold is applied to help benefit someone’s life. The value of something is derived from a human directly benefiting from it. Only until the lithium is mined and used to do something that helps improve someone’s quality of life then it hasn’t realized its value yet.

9 daysIf you’re homeless then at your current time it’s valueless. It’s like being told “there’s an abundance of food being grown… in 5 years” and you die of starvation.

9 daysHow do you know they’ll do that? What if it just sits in the ground for a million years, does it have any value then?

9 daysNo it’s not, I don’t value it at all because I can’t actually use it for anything right now.

9 daysLike to make it completely clear, I could value the moon at $5 trillion, it doesn’t matter because I can’t actually get to the moon.

9 daysI find this perspective funny nowadays, and I want more people to question it, really question it. It’s valued at over $1.5 trillion? No, it’s worth nothing if it just sits there doing nothing. If you worded it as “Could be worth…” then I’d give it a pass. But don’t let yourself be fooled, that lithium has absolutely no real value if it’s not mined and put towards something that someone can use to improve their quality of life.

14 daysTo add, I truly never take my car off of one pedal mode, and solely keep it in one pedal mode.

Technology@lemmy.world•The First Modern Car Without Hydraulic Brakes Is Headed to ProductionEnglish
14 daysBy “I drive solely using one pedal on my Bolt” with the word “drive” I imply that means normally how I drive. Such that, when I introduce the exception, “brake only” that is not typically how I drive, but rather a precautionary necessity, not a part of how I normally drive. So semantically, yes I should have added “normally” before the word “drive”, or maybe “I drive 99% of the time using one pedal”.

14 daysGood that you want to switch, take your time, don’t be afraid. There are many resources online for how to switch without accidentally deleting or losing access to things. I have been using Linux Mint for over a year now switching from Windows 10 and I haven’t run into any limitations or issues. It’s been a great learning experience and has overall lead to me being more technologically savvy. If you have any questions there are many places to discuss, feel free to ask.

15 daysI drive solely using one pedal on my Bolt, and brake only when I need to stop faster. As long as it’s reliable and safe this should be fine. Regenerative braking is really fun.

They want BEV owners to feel the same financial shit as those who made bad decisions buying massive gas guzzlers. It’s a ploy to get people avoid buying BEVs now that they’re seeing them gain popularity. They won’t be able stop the transition that’s coming, BEVs are the future, more efficient, cleaner, resilient to global geopolitical shit.
